2026 SIDF Masterclass Series: Lex Dones

CONTEMPORARY MOVEMENT & IMPROVISATION W/ ALEX DONES (PORTLAND, OR)

This class utilizes various forms of dance movement combined with improvisation & character work to explore artistry, range of motion, and methods to make choices with quickness and confidence! Class will begin with a brief introduction circle, followed by a warm-up consisting of a series of movement tasks & prompts that flow seamlessly from one to the next. Then, participants will break into small groups and will be led through a series of games that play into character and reaction to external information. Participants will then regroup to learn a choreography phase that will then be remixed and revised in real-time. Class will culminate with an improvisational circle with no pressure or expectations.

Experience the Seattle International Dance Festival beyond the stage. This masterclass series offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from the international and national artists presenting at the festival while exploring new movement styles and connecting with the global dance community, right here in Seattle. Classes are open to dancers ages 15 to Adult.
